LINDY

Goals:

▪ return left rear limb to usable status which functions in ambulation

▪ improve neuromuscular conditioning and prevent further muscle atrophy

▪ improve stifle and hip joint ROM and reverse muscle contraction

▪ maintain and ultimately increase cardiovascular fitness

▪ regain lost thigh muscling

Therapy:

bioelectric whirlpool for initial sessions -

      (for relaxation and pain management)

passive flexion/extension of left stifle and hip -

(used to stretch all flexor muscles)

▪ an assortment of therapeutic exercises -

(to stimulate the left rear limb)

▪ neuromuscular gait retraining using both the land treadmill and UWT (underwater treadmill) –

(used once some degree of weight bearing becomes evident)

How Is Lindy Doing Now?

Lindy has been working extremely hard three days a week with our rehabilitation technicians and has achieved tremendous results.  She is now able to stretch her injured leg and touch it to the ground, which was once held completely up close to her body.  She is putting more and more weight on her leg during her normal walking each day and is starting to regain strength and confidence in her abilities.  We are very proud of our sweet girl!
