Patient Success Stories
We are proud of the dramatic changes in health and mobility that our patients experience. Here are some of their stories, in the words of their owners.
Pounce
To all the wonderful staff at Dr. Wall’s Rehab Center,
Upon returning home from work one day our little dachshund “Pounce” was unable to move her back legs, control her bladder or even wag her tail. Our veterinarian suggested an MRI and possible surgery. Surgery was not an option for us due to the high cost. When we asked her for alternatives to surgery she suggested we contact Dr. Wall at his Rehabilitation Center to see if they could help.
From the moment we entered Dr. Wall’s Rehab Center we were comforted by their professionalism and concern for our little dog. While they made no promises Dr. Wall shared with us his believe that therapy could help her. Now six weeks later our little Pounce is completely mobile – running around the house and yard, and has regained bladder control and wags her tail constantly. We are so thankful to all the staff for doing such a remarkable job helping our little Pounce regain her mobility.
Sincerely,
Ron, Gail, and Pounce
Barney
Barney had undergone significant surgery to repair damaged tendons and ligaments in his front forearm – including taking bone from his shoulder, breaking the forearm bone, putting in a plate, and soddering everything together. He was in a cast for almost three months. While the surgery was successful in that the plate securely welded and was accepted by his body, he was experiencing significant recovery pain in his shoulder, as well as a severe limp. He was compensating by trying to walk on three legs, which Dr. Wall later indicated to me also caused other muscular issues in different areas.
We began seeing Dr. Wall in October 2008. In that time, Barney has received a variety of physical therapy including, but not limited to water treadmill, acupuncture, electrode whirlpool, trigger point injections, massage, and laser therapy. Needless to say, Barney loves Dr. Wall and his staff. Their knowledge, experience, patience and overall “outside the box” thinking has made all the difference in Barney’s recovery. Specifically, this treatment addressed his physical issues, as opposed to just using medication to treat pain, which unfortunately is the standard operating procedure I have experienced at other veterinarian facilities. In addition, Dr. Wall has always taken the time to respond in person or via telephone on every occasion that I have had a question. Further, he has taken all the time necessary to make sure that I understand not only the procedures being given, but the physics involved in the processes as well. I don’t know what we would have done without Dr. Wall, Kari and the rest of The Woodlands staff.

Scruffy
Scruffy is an Akita Chow mix and was born in 1997. When we brought him to Dr. Wall in 2008, we were desperate and afraid we were going to have to put him down because he was in so much pain. We had taken him to specialists in Houston and had every test run imaginable. He would lick his painful joints until his tongue would bleed profusely from scraping over his bottom teeth. Dr. Wall immediately gave him acupuncture, hydro-therapy and massage. The very next morning, Scruffy picked up a toy he hadn’t touched in over a year! The difference was amazing but we had to keep up the sessions of acupuncture, hydro-therapy and massage, as well as various pain medications. Dr. Wall then suggested that we treat Scruffy with stem cell harvesting and injection. The results have been incredible. Scruffy’s eyes are round and bright. He carries his toys around with him again and is happy and playful. He is a large dog and older and is not completely pain-free, still requiring pain medication from time to time, but he has a great quality of life once again and we have Dr. Wall and his wonderful staff and progressive treatments to thank for that!!

Eddie
Stem Cell Replacement is a fascinating medical procedure. Our English Bulldog, Eddie, who at the time was 2 1/2 years old, was running around and playing with his sister Dani Marie. He was very active, jumping and trotting and enjoying life. Then one day we noticed that he was not as active as he used to be. Walking slow instead of trotting along as usual. He had a hard time sitting down, in other words, he would place his left leg under himself very slowly and very gently lower himself down. His leg was also pretty tender to the touch.
After a visit to Dr. Wall, Eddie’s x-rays showed the deterioration of padding between is left knee joints. It was “bone touching bone”. The solution, so we thought, was to place pins and a steel rod in his leg. We really didn’t want Eddie to have to endure long-term pain with arthritis caused by the pins and rod. Prior to the diagnosis, my husband and I had watched a news report about the use of Stem Cell Replacement on Race Horses. They had great results and had even tried the procedure on canines.
We discussed this with Dr. Wall, who agreed to perform the procedure. A month or so later, Eddie went to see Dr. Wall for a few hours, had some tissue removed from his left shoulder and came home. A week or so later, Eddie went back to see Dr. Wall, had the stem cells injected in his left knee, as well as his hips because English Bulldogs are known for having hip dysplasia. Within a few weeks it seemed as if Eddie was on the road back to being his playful self.
A little more than a year has passed and Eddie is now 3 1/2 years old, running and playing like he was a young puppy again! Stem Cell Replacement Therapy was definitely the answer for our furry friend Eddie. Thanks Dr. Wall.
